STOCKTON METROPOLITAN AIRPORT TO CONDUCT TRI-ANNUAL EMERGENCY EXERCISE

County personnel, first responders, and local volunteers to participate in emergency simulation drill

WHO:
The event is being coordinated by the San Joaquin County Department of Aviation at Stockton Metropolitan Airport (SCK). SCK employees, County staff, first responders, and local residents will participate in a realistic exercise where volunteers will act as victims, airport passengers, and family members.

WHAT:
During the drill, airport personnel and approximately 150 volunteer County staff, first responders, role-play actors, and members of the Venture Academy will participate in a simulated emergency situation. The drill is intended to test the airport’s procedures and coordination with local emergency response partners.

WHY:

Every three years, SCK conducts an emergency exercise in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration regulations. The drill is a training exercise to test and evaluate the readiness and effectiveness of the airport’s emergency response teams in reacting to various scenarios and threats. After the exercise is complete, a comprehensive debrief will help the airport and its partners improve emergency preparedness. The tri-annual drill is an important part of maintaining the safety and security of all types of airport operations.
